We are one of 22 schools in Ward 7 of the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). Each Ward is represented by a publicly elected Trustee who is elected at the same time as our municipal elections. Each school elects 1-2 parent volunteers to represent the school at Ward Council meetings. Trustees govern the TDSB and serve as their Ward’s advocates for public education and whose responsibilities include setting the strategic direction of the TDSB, ensuring local accountability for student success and wellbeing, and ensuring the effective operation of the school board.

Ward 7 Meetings

“Trustees are elected to represent specific political entities called wards. Ward council meetings provide an opportunity for parent representatives from schools in the ward to meet with their local school trustee to discuss issues of common concern. Ward council meetings are also an opportunity for the school trustee to inform parents about matters under consideration by the Board and get their feedback.” http://www.tdsb.on.ca/Community/HowtoGetInvolved/WardCouncils.aspx

The Ward 7 Education Council, hosted by the Ward Trustee, meets four to six times per school year at Runnymede PS Library (357 Runnymede Road), at 7:00 p.m.  They are attended by two elected representatives from our school council, who then report back with information relevant  to Humbercrest PS.

Ward 7 Facebook Group

facebook logoGreetings, We have started a Ward 7 Council Facebook group. The group is designed for the Ward 7 community to discuss and keep up to date on issues relating to our schools in a more informal setting than the monthly Council meetings. Moreover, unlike Ward Council meetings, any parent in our community is invited to join the group, not only those who sit on their respective school councils. The page may be used to post announcements, notices and information regarding events and activities at individual schools and within the Ward, generally. Questions and comments with respect to education and the Ward may also be posted. The sharing of ideas and best practices is encouraged. This is a closed group, with posts only visible to group members. That said, existing members may add or approve new members.
