The school was established in 1915 (on February 26, 1916 was formally opened with six rooms and 120 pupils) and presently serves a population of over 700 students from Junior Kindergarten to grade 8.

Humbercrest Public School is an urban school in the west end of Toronto which serves a population of over 700 children from JK to grade 8. It is a dual-track French Immersion School, offering English and Early French Immersion Programmes. Humbercrest draws students from a wide catchment area from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.

The school is located south-west of the Jane and Dundas Streets in Toronto. Its municipal address is 14 Saint Marks Road, Toronto, Ontario, M6S 2H7. It is located on a modestly-sized lot of 2.5 acres in a quiet residential area surrounded by small one-way streets.
