Dance-A-Thon 2018: Friday, March 9

ALL STUDENTS from JK to grade 8 will participate in our Dance-a-Thon on Friday, March 9 in the big gym.

All students will have 30 minutes to enjoy some music and get active. Much Music will program age-appropriate music/videos for each grade. All videos have been edited before they get added to the video dance library. The DJ also has the ability to edit “on-the-fly” during the event. Further, they will use interactive video where students on the dance floor will be projected live on the big screen so many videos are not shown in their entirety.

This annual event is a lot of fun for the students but is also an important fundraiser for SoFun. All money raised will go towards a field tent, creative performances and chrome books.  Donations can be made using the paper forms which should be returned to the classroom teacher or a donation can be made using Cashless Schools.  MAKE A PLEDGE NOW!  CLICK HERE!

Help! Student Drop Zone

If you’ve driven your child to school this year, you’ve probably been stuck in the huge lineup of non-moving cars in the Drop Zone located on Brookside Ave. OWe need to fix this for our collective sanity and the safety of our children!

How is Drop Zone suppose to work? It’s simple! Between 8:45 and 9:00 am each school day, one volunteer (e.g. a parent, grand-parent, high school student) stands in the Drop Zone on Brookside (East side of school) and opens car doors as they pull in, assists kids getting out and into the schoolyard, and keeps the traffic moving!

We’re looking for a volunteer supervisor that would communicate with Drop Zone volunteers and monitor the online volunteer sign-up form to ensure daily slots are filled.  We will provide the online volunteer sign-up form and communicate the request for volunteers to all parents.  What we need is someone to ensure volunteers show up and know how to do the job!  Heck, if we had a real keen volunteer who wanted to be the daily Drop Zone manager, and forego the volunteer recruitment list, you could do this task yourself!

Help us, help everyone get to work on time and keep our kids safe by providing an effective Drop Zone!  To learn more or volunteer, please contact Heather Sinclair at [email protected].

Winter Carnaval & Talent Show – Volunteers Needed!

Our annual Winter Carnaval & Talent Show is on Friday, February 23. We need LOTS of parents to help. Click Here to Sign-Up.

Again this year we are using the online app “Sign-Up”. It’s easy to use – even from your phone. You can add volunteer shifts to your calendar. Please, give it a try. However, if you’d prefer to simply e-mail me ([email protected]), that’s fine too!

Our kids love the Winter Carnaval and Talent Show — but we can’t make it happen without help from parents.

Thank you in advance from your SoFun and Parent Council team of parent volunteers.
