Note from School Admin

New for the 2026-2027 Year!! This year, we will be asking for a $10 activity fee for each student for each team they participate in this year. If a family is in financial need, we will support them. As teams are organized, a School Cash Online posting will go up.

Humbercrest Athletics Code of Conduct: We prioritize our students’ academic and personal growth above all else. For this reason, a student’s academic performance and behaviour—both at school and as an athlete—are closely monitored. We strongly reinforce the expectation that school comes first. Coaches, staff, and school administration may temporarily suspend their athletic pursuits if necessary. Additionally, unsportsmanlike behaviour and disrespect toward fellow students, staff, coaches, or opponents will not be tolerated and is a direct violation of the Humbercrest Athletics Code of Conduct. Ultimately, participation in athletics is a privilege, not a right.

Frequently Asked Questions

My child is interested in joining a team. When are tryouts, and what information do we need?

Students should listen to the daily announcements for all tryout and practice information. To be eligible to try out for a team, students must:

• Listen to daily announcements for specific dates and times.
• Submit a signed permission slip to their coach. This is required for all students who wish to participate.

Are students allowed to play on two team sports in the same season?

Generally, yes, students are permitted to play on two team sports during the same season. However, this opportunity is conditional and may change based on a few key factors. The decision is always made in the best interest of the student and the team.

Why isn’t a team offered for a certain sport?

For any sports team to be established, we must have a staff volunteer who is available to lead and supervise it. While we deeply appreciate the offers from community members to coach, all teams must have a staff member to ensure the safety and accountability of the team.

If a parent volunteers to coach, does their child automatically make the team?

No, volunteering to coach does not guarantee a child a spot on a team. We believe that volunteering should be a contribution to the school community, not a means to bypass the standard selection process. To ensure fairness and equity, all students must go through the same tryout process to earn their spot on a team.

How can I help with Humbercrest Athletics?

We’d love to have your support! There are two great ways to get involved:

• Community Coach or Volunteer: If you’re interested in coaching a team or helping out as a parent volunteer, please fill out the Humbercrest Athletics Volunteer/Community Coach Sign Up Form (26/27).
• Join the Athletics Committee: Please contact Yvonne (humbercrestathletics@gmail.com) if you have any questions or would like to join the Athletics Committee.

Code of Conduct and Expectations for Gym Usage

Staff emphasized that they are committed to providing a safe, positive, and educational environment for Physical Education and athletics.

Message to Parents

We ask for your support in discussing the following essential safety and conduct points with your children:

• Treat the Gym as a Classroom: Staff must always be present in the gym for students to enter and participate.
• Running Shoes are Required: Students must wear appropriate running shoes for all Physical Education classes and practices.
• Safety First: Students are not allowed in the equipment room at any time.
• Respect the Space: Students should stay off the stage, return all equipment after every use, and collect their personal items and garbage.

Your help in reinforcing these expectations at home is greatly appreciated and will contribute to a safe and focused environment for all our student athletes.
