Committees

Committees

Sub committees are smaller groups of dedicated parents and caregivers who focus on specific areas within council. Each committee has one or two co-leads, and will meet as needed outside main SAC meetings.

Together, they helps strengthen our school community by organizing activities, supporting student programs, and advising on key initiatives.

Every committee is always looking for volunteers, so if you’re interested, please reach out directly to the committee lead.

Athletics

Committee lead: Yvonne Chan (humbercrestathletics@gmail.com)

Provides a platform for parents, staff and students to discuss strategies for enhancing Humbercrest’s athletic programs. More information here.

English/French

Committee lead: Amy Dixon

Supports both the English and French Immersion streams by fostering strong connections between families across both programs, dispelling misconceptions, and sharing clear information.

Environment and Sustainability

Committee lead: Whelena Sainsbury & Georgina

Encourages environmentally sustainable practices at school, and leads initiatives like schoolyard cleanup days and e such as “boomerang lunches” that reduce waste.

Equity and Inclusivity

Committee lead: Darina Larga (humbercrestequity@gmail.com)

Promotes an inclusive school community where every student and family feels represented, welcomed, and heard. More information here.

Graduation

Committee lead: Jackie & Lisa

Organizes graduation-related events, including the graduation ceremony, dance, and fundraising for grad trips.

Grants

Committee lead: Kristen Nugent (humbercrestgrants1@gmail.com)

Coordinates and submits grant applications on behalf of council to support school initiatives.

Events & Fundraising (aka So Fun)

Committee lead: Heather Sinclair & Shay Benedict

Plans and runs events—both community-building and fundraising activities—to strengthen school spirit and engagement.
